JR. RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT TECHNICIAN - METROLOGY LAB
Location: Juliette, GA (Metrology Lab co-located at Plant Scherer)
The technician in this position is responsible for calibrating, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on a wide variety of electronic and physical/dimensional Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE). M&TE is owned by all power generation plants, operating headquarters, transmission maintenance centers (TMC's), as well as other departments throughout Southern Company and is used to monitor and maintain voltage, temperature, pressure and many other critical measurement areas to specified tolerances. This position must also support maintenance of working laboratory standards in certified status. Other duties include selecting the proper procedure which describes the calibration parameters and process, recording as-found/as-left data as required, identifying any out-of -tolerance condition, and documenting all processes to nuclear standards.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Repair and calibrate general Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE)
Develop calibration data sheets
Interpret logic diagrams and electronic schematics
Troubleshoot simple digital and analog circuitry
Proper loading/unloading and storage of Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) in/out of delivery van
Pick-up and delivery of M&TE to/from customer locations
High school diploma or equivalent required.
A two- (2) year degree in Electronics, military or civilian metrology degree, or related field is preferred. Significant qualifying experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Three years experience working in a calibration lab or related electronic / physical-dimensional work area preferred.
Repair / calibration skills of electronic / physical-dimensional equipment required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Basic knowledge of electronic / physical-dimensional type equipment required.
Possess strong computer skills.
