Risk Control Analyst

Description

Basic Function:

Analyzes and reports position, and profit and loss (P/L) for origination deals (e.g., cash monthly physical, cash monthly financial, transportation, and storage). Assists in developing and implementing evaluation models and applications for reporting risk information. Analyzes and reports compliance. Maintains curves appropriate to the region and performs daily market data compilation on a rotational basis.

Representative Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes and reconciles daily position and P/L by region for market moves, day over day shift, and impact of changes to existing deals.

  • Monitors Daily Position Report (DPR) for accuracy, limits, mark-to-market, valuation, liquidity, and operational risk levels to ensure compliance with established risk limits and other risk management policies and procedures.

  • Values options to track daily pricing.

  • Produces non-standard reports for Risk Control, Asset Management, and Trading & Marketing management, and Traders.

  • Works with regional trading leads to coordinate market data capture for use in end of day valuations and maintenance of supporting documentation.

  • Collaborates with internal team members and accounting personnel to reconcile portfolio valuation issues and communicate resolution to mid and back-office leadership.

  • Assists in designing, enhancing, and implementing system applications.

  • Cross training for all regions.

Education and Experience:

Required :

  • BA/BS in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or Business

  • 3-5 years of experience in risk management in the natural gas marketing and trading industry

Preferred :

  • Risk management experience within a small organization OR equivalent academic education and experience

Skills :

Required :

  • MS Word - basic proficiency

  • MS Excel - intermediate proficiency

  • MS Visio - intermediate proficiency

  • MS Access - intermediate proficiency

  • MS PowerPoint - intermediate proficiency

  • Visual Basic - basic proficiency

  • Multi-tasking skills

Preferred :

  • MS Excel - advanced proficiency
