Engineer - Lighting Services
This position is located in Gulfport, MS. Relocation assistance will be considered for this position.
Job Experience and Education:
Four-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited institution - required
Minimum 2 years of experience in estimating and cad-related drawing -preferred.
Experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of street and area lighting systems, including familiarization with distribution system components and operation – preferred
Familiarity with IESNA standards and elements of design considered a plus.
Understanding of both NEC and NESC design standards – preferred
Experience in project management and working with contractors - preferred
Provide various lighting design layouts and proposals
Work to insure lighting g designs meet IESNA standards
Work closely with lighting vendors to provide photometrics and quotes
Support Lighting Services Engineering & Sales Analyst with customer sales meetings
Help coordinate Lighting Services construction projects between various MPC departments to ensure timely completion and ensure materials and equipment are available to meet construction schedules
Assist with packaging responses to bid packages for lighting installations
Proactively generate profitable lighting sales
Attend appropriate industry and system committees and working groups as identified
Serve as technical interface with other departments
Provide project management oversight
Create work orders for major lighting projects using MPC's Job Estimating Tracking System "JETS"
Generate material purchase requests in MAXIMO
Assist in packaging special lighting contracts
Serve as lighting services CAMP coordinator
Utilize MPC pricing model to support unregulated lighting sales
Package and deliver training related to lighting materials, engineering and construction
Provide approval of JETS and Maximo in absence of Lighting Supervisor
Oversee and participate in appropriate trade shows and special events
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proven knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code, National Electrical Code, Southern Company Distribution Specifications, MPC Safety Rule Book, MPC O&M Procedures and applicable compliance policies
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MSProject, etc)
Proven project management skills involving multiple projects
Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
General knowledge in the preparation, negotiation, and administration of contracts
General knowledge of distribution material and electrical theory
Excellent problem solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on building positive relationships with peers, other departments, and customers
