Southern Nuclear, a subsidiary of Southern Company, manages and operates six nuclear power electric generating plants that provide approximately 20 percent of the electricity used in Alabama and Georgia. JOB SUMMARY

This position coordinates, schedules, tracks training for the Maintenance population to ensure efficient and timely completion of training required by maintenance personnel to meet initial and continuing training requirements.

The individual will:

  • Assign, develop, track, communicate and verify Plateau qualifications

  • Maintain Departmental Performance Indicators

  • Report monthly Plateau learning needs to supervision

  • Actively promote timely completion of qualifications

  • Promptly report delinquent qualifications to appropriate supervision/management

  • Develop annual training plans for maintenance personnel

  • Track Apprentice and Assistants JPM / OJE status

  • Track Maintenance Engineer Work Group Training

  • Assist with the Quarterly Training Performance Indicators

  • Assist with Supplemental in Processing (as needed)

  • Outage Assignment

  • Track and maintain Departmental AP-31 certifications

  • Attend training committee meetings (as needed) to report training and qualification status and issues to management

  • Verify qualifications of shared and supplemental personnel for outage and non-outage activities

  • Complete and generate Action Items and Condition Reports as needed

  • Perform Backup CAPCO duties

  • Coordinate Shift/Vacation selections for the Maintenance Shop

The successful candidate must be adept at Plateau Administration. Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Excel, Sync Power, and computer tools required. The individual must be able to quickly learn new programs. Individual should qualify as a Nantel and Plateau Proctor. This position requires good communication skills with the customers, primarily maintenance workers, management and engineers.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Experience Requirements

  • Three (3) years Industrial work related experience with at least 1 year nuclear is preferred.

  • Training coordinator and/or corrective action program experience strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Well organized and capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Capable of maintaining and creating tracking databases.

  • Strong problem solving skills.
