Organizational Effectiveness Principal

The Organizational Effectiveness Principal will partner with the Talent Management COE Director to provide system wide OE leadership to drive business results. The Principal will be responsible for providing thought leadership and execution oversight on efforts such as competency development, assessments, change management, Top Talent development, etc. to maximize talent bench strength and organizational effectiveness across the system. The Principal will also ensure Southern Company’s desired culture and values are highly integrated throughout all OE strategies, approaches and interventions.

  • Design strategies, lead and manage complex enterprise interventions (enterprise change management, organizational redesign & restructure, strategic planning, culture transformational efforts, M&A integration, leadership effectiveness, executive onboarding, assessments, executive coaching, etc.)

  • Design, develop and execute system-wide officer forums and Top Talent leadership development experiences in partnership with Southern’ s senior leadership.

  • Partner with TM Director and HR Senior Leadership Team to support the integration of organizational effectiveness strategies with enterprise business strategy; Assist across HR and the business to support key consulting and OE needs. Partner with HR and business leaders to help build organizational effectiveness subject matter expertise and advanced OE consulting capability of others.

  • Provide leadership to additional OE Consultant(s) and collaborate across OE roles to identify key OE strategies and needs across the system. Lead prioritization and best practice across the team to ensure solutions and support approaches maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Remain abreast of current trends and research to ensure current thinking and innovative solutions are leveraged to maximize outcomes and engagement.

  • Partner with Director, Talent Management on other organizational initiatives as needed


  • Master’s degree in Organizational/Industrial Psychology highly preferred

  • Certifications in administering and coaching a wide array of organizational, team, individual assessments highly preferred

  • Certifications in Change Management, Organizational Design highly preferred

  • PHR/SPHR certification a plus


  • 10 years of Progressive OE consulting experience.

  • Experience working with C-level leaders to design and execute officer development programs

  • Strategic consulting and influencing around complex business issues and integrating organizational effectiveness strategies to solve business challenges
