Health and Welfare Financial and Compliance Analyst
The Compensation & Benefits (C&B) Health and Welfare Financial and Compliance Analyst is responsible for supporting the C&B team with day-to-day operations – providing financial and data analytics, interfacing with the plan actuaries and working with the senior H&W analyst to ensure completion of Health and Welfare compliance activities
The successful candidate will have the ability to utilize systems to collect, analyze and track plan financial measures. An expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, outstanding analytical skills, and demonstrated teamwork and communication competencies are essential.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
This role will work under the direction of the Senior H&W Financial Consultant to achieve the goals of the H&W financial team including – research, plan financial management including health and welfare rate setting, preparing reports and communications materials and utilizing analytics for efficiency and continuous improvement
Under the direction of the senior financial consultant, this role with partner with outside actuaries and consulting resources to assist in the development of plan cost projections, COBRA and cost sharing contributions for active and retiree populations
Work with senior H&W consultant to monitor plan compliance (such as ACA reporting, IRS, DOL and ERISA regulations) to ensure adherence to requirements. Monitor changes to Health Care Reform and other legislation to assure compliance and understanding of long term impact.
Maintain and monitor annual compliance calendar. Serve as a liaison across multiple stakeholders (legal, tax, payroll) to ensure completion of health and welfare compliance requirements across the business.
Proactively collect and analyze data for trends and issues - compare and report findings across vendors and functions including financial and key demographic implications
Effectively utilize project management skills to ensure that the team executes assigned projects in scope and on time - maintain/update work plans, communicating progress, etc.
Effectively communicate data, analytics and key findings to C&B management for strategic projects, update meetings and presentations
Develop benefits presentations and communication materials related to plan financials
Partner with peer analysts to share best practices and identify opportunities for improvement
Perform special projects as required to continue improving the overall customer experience
Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Sciences, Finance, Accounting, Industrial Engineering or another analytical field preferred
At least 3 years of experience in the financial management of employee benefit programs, with a focus on data analysis. Experience in health plan financial management and pricing or underwriting is preferred
Demonstrated experience utilizing advanced Microsoft Excel or Access to develop, run and troubleshoot data analytics in a professional environment. (Knowledge of data warehouse analytics a plus)
Ability to analyze complex data across multiple plans and identify trends and recommend simple, relevant solutions
